The 5th Bo'ness Hill Climb Revival - 8th and 9th September 2012
The Ron Flockhart/Bob McIntyre Celebration Meeting
This year will be our fifth event of the current reincarnation of Bo'ness, and we intend to celebrate the lives of two famous Scots - Ron Flockhart and Bob McIntyre who both tragically lost their lives fifty years ago in 1962. The 2012 meeting will be the "Ron Flockhart/Bob McIntyre Celebration Meeting".
Dick Skipworth is bringing the original iconic Ecurie Ecosse transporter (built at Alexanders in Falkirk!) with some of his stable of Jaguars including the Ron Flockhart Le Mans Jaguar D Type. Barry Wood is bringing the ex-Jimmy Stewart Cooper Bristol and both these famous Ecurie Ecosse cars will give demo runs on the hill. Tom and Darren McWhirter from the Moray Motor Museum will be competing with one of the first EE cars, the ex-Ian Stewart Jaguar XK120 (see side bar) and the Tojeiro Ford.
Probably the most famous hill climb car of all, ERA R4D, will also be in attendance courtesy of Mac Hulbert. Raymond Mays sold this car to Ron Flockhart who broke the Bo'ness hill climb record with it in 1953. The car then passed on to Ken Wharton who won the British Hill Climb Championship with it in 1954. It has competed continually for 77 years!
Ben and Shaun Waters are bringing their incomparable display of Joe Potts items to Bo'ness once again and they will be accompanied by Jim Maxwell who will demo his Potts Manx Norton. |
