Morning ,

as a birthday present my family have bought me tickets to lemans classic 2016..... Through 'travel destinations'.

So I am definitely going......so as time passes so quickly thought I might as well start a thread now and hopefully get a few cars trackside.

So are you going ?

As I finalise my Le Mans plans I have been offered two on circuit camp sites at Hunaudieres on the inside of the Tertre Rouge corner, and on the famous Porsche Curves.

From those who have been already ...... Which camp site is best ?...??

If there is gonna be a number of MM cars there ..... Can we all park at the same place ?...
Any suggestions gratefully received.

Grant.

There's a faint chance I could make something like that, obviously without a car, though.

If I were to go as a spectator, what do I need to do re: lodging, etc? Are there MM club arrangements I'd want to be aware of? We've been talking about doing a roadtrip in the UK, and a trip across the channel could be a fun addition...

Talked to the fiancee, and I think we may be tentatively on board for shooting for this. We would probably do a bit over 2 week trip, with a few days down at the lemans classic, take a ferry over to UK, and then do a roadtrip either up to Scotland or ferry over to Ireland.

I obviously won't have anything other than a cheapo rental car, but we will enjoy being spectators .

There are camp sites around the circuit and b&b accommodation further afield but you need to book up early. Check the Marcos Sportscar Enthusiasts forum for more information nearer the time. Also se Grant's post above.

There will be a Marcos club area inside the circuit. Passes and admission tickets are usually booked by Isobel Chivers of Club Marcos International. You can also get tickets and accommodation through third party companies.

Now two friends of ours came to stop with us a couple of weeks ago and i told them about the Le Man 2016, and talked about a trip in the Jem , He phoned me a week later as he had Google it and he was up for going, So we could make one as well,

Richard is the Club doing something ?????????????????????????????????,

It would be nice if Brian and fiance made it , But i don't think you would be in a cheap Rento as i don't know of any and when you see the price of our gas, But don't be put of as our island is only small so the milage you do would will compensate , I think , But i reckon you will tell me that you have already been here!!!!!!! Steve could fly over and make a Holiday + tour of Europe and of course UK

Goff,

I actually have been to the UK a few times -- mostly to London. The only bit of driving there, though, was back in 2005, I did a road trip from London to Canterbury, then along the south coast, and up into Wales and back to London. We managed to find the crappiest rental car ever -- Normally when you rent a car, they note any scratches on the car before you take it out, the guy just drew a squiggly circle around the whole car. The car always seemed like it was barely going to start, too. But it was dirt cheap! These days, I'm not totally broke, so I'll manage to find something a touch nicer, though .

Shortly before I met Charlotte (fiancee), she had done a road trip around Ireland with some of her friends, and is eager to go back, though Scotland is high on her list as well.

At this point, unless something significant comes up, I'm pretty sure we're in. I'm going to start looking into tickets and accomodations at the lemans classic.

Therre will be a combined Marcos club stand which is organised by CMI. I hope we shall get a bit more space than in recent years. I don't know if MMOC is doing anything special. I guess it's down to us if we want to drive down together. I'll probably go on the Wednesday night via Portsmouth - Le Havre or maybe Caen, and come back on Monday afternoon. I might have a spare seat, or possibly a spare car if I put it back together in time, but I've got to get to Lithuania and back first.

It's not all signed and sealed yet, but MOC have got something something special planned for LMC 2016!

I will be there with at least 1 car. I hope my girl drives the other one (she likes the car more and more, which is a good point till she keeps it for herself!)

Now waiting for the good news from MOC. Will there be any combined deal from the Le Mans Classic and MMOC? And is the camping together?

Regards,
Joost

That's difficult. If we want to camp together at one of the official ACO sites we'll need to book together and we'll need to book early to get a site on the inside of the circuit. Karting Nord is convenient but noisy. Unfortunately Isobel doesn't do the campsite bookings at the same time as the event tickets which would make life easier. I think the MOC guys usually book through Travel Destinations who have their own camp sites. Some people camp at Darren and Debbie's place which is some distance from the circuit.

Richard,
It's certainly travel destinations my family have booked for me .    The campsites appear quite small but with security etc.     Looks like a good deal too.

Grant, re. camp sites. I know where the one at Tertre Rouge is but I couldn't see much inside. It's on a congested bit of road near the new sports stadium. It's convenient for the clubs areas. I don't know what the site near the Porsche curves is like. Both will be noisy during the race.

The Le Mans classic dates are 8th to 10th July 2016.

Spoke with travel destinations and the campsites are filling up !!

For the Le Mans Classic 2016 Travel Destinations will have two private trackside campsites. They will be located at Hunaudieres (on the inside of the Tertre Rouge corner) and on the Porsche Curves. The campsites are controlled by Travel Destinations staff and provide all our guests with on-site security and serviced showers and toilets. The campsites are adjacent to the track so you cannot be closer to the on circuit action with a viewing bank right next to the campsite. For those without a tent we have a "Glamping" option with our Event Tents and for those that don't like camping then we are pleased to also offer our Flexotel Village in the centre of the circuit. - See more at: http://www.traveldestinations......sthash.jP4SbLeq.dpuf

So what's the thoughts ?..

Hi Richard,
I am presently booked into public campsite .

I was hoping if we all get organised early ( ok very early ) we could all get on one of the traveldestinations sites and spend evenings singing songs and toasting marshmallows round the gaz stoves .........only a thought.

Seriously - if a load of us going and the big guns as well it would seem kinda sensible to all camp in at least the same site.

Regards

Hi goff,
As stated previously I am booked through travel destinations - they have booked me into public campsite with the option of porsche curves or another private one which is really why I was asking the questions in the first place.

I wanted to find out where everyone was going ...porsche curves would be fine with me .

This is the reply from Isobel chives of marcos club :
I only book a parking place for the clubs in the inner area and order
tickets but you'll have yours; I can get you an inner car park pass (free).
The Marcos Owners Club usually park together but don't know where.  Our lot
usually book B& B's close by.

Regards

Car Access to the "Marcos" Club Stand - free (as long as you have an admission ticket)
   Track Laps (Saturday morning) £121

Further details about booking will be available shortly, but those ticket prices give us a good start!

Is anyone else out there going to Le Mans Classic to celebrate 50 years.........

The closing date to apply for tickets via CMI is mid-January, which is just 3 weeks away
At the moment, I am only aware of 2 or 3 cars from the UK, but was expecting 10+

Posted on behalf of Debbie and Darren Morrison:

"We would again like to extend an invite to anyone attending the Le Mans Classic on the weekend of 08-10 July 2016 to come and join the party at our place.  As we live so far away from all the Marcos activities in England it is nice to see as many people here as possible for this great event.

We live approximately 35 minutes from the Le Mans circuit and since 2008 have had a large number of Marcos enthusiasts stay with us for the Classic weekend.  We have a fair bit of land and can offer camping and use of three shower rooms.  We provide a continental breakfast (cereal, toast, croissant, pain-au-chocolat, tea, coffee, orange juice, etc) and a B-B-Q evening meal (chicken, pork, sausage, beef burger, salad, coleslaw, potato salad, couscous, French bread, relishes, etc) followed by a selection of homemade desserts, with beer, wine and soft drinks included.

We charge EUR 11.00 per person per night for camping (including breakfast) and EUR 16.00 per person for the B-B-Q evening meal, including drinks.

There is an open invitation to anyone who may wish to visit us just for the B-B-Q on one or more of the evenings of Thu, Fri or Sun (but please let us know in advance so we can ensure there is enough food for everyone!).

If anyone is interested please either email us at darren.morrison@wanadoo.fr or call us on 00 33 243 21 88 07

Also, if anyone would prefer B&B/Hotel accommodation we can provide a list of places near to us who may still have availability.

Debbie & Darren Morrison"

Hi All , sorry to be late one more time . How many of you will be here on Friday evening ? If you're inteterested I would like to organize a BBQ , near to Le Mans circuit , a kind of mini Marcos welcome !

Let me know if some of you are interested by that idea !

Regards

Other point :

My parents have two room ( double bed ) into a French family house available with breakfast  in Le Mans city , close to a tramway stop and close to the train station , so if some of you are still looking for a bed solution ( 200¤/bedroom  for the weekend ).
