We will be celebrating this great little car with a weekend of fun and history. We will be starting with a meeting/display on Saturday the 26th September at Castle Combe Mini Action Day. It was here that Geoff Mabbs first demonstrated the potential of this fibreglass mini on a race track, back in 1965.

In the evening there will be a three course celebration meal at the Lansdowne Strand Hotel, Calne, Wiltshire, SN11 0EH.

Many of our group will be staying at the hotel on the Saturday night, the club have agreed special B+B rates with the hotel (Singles 40, Twin Rooms or Doubles 50). If you wish to reserve a room, just phone the hotel on 01249 812488 and explain that you are part of the  Mini Marcos group.

After breakfast on Sunday, there will be a scenic drive through picturesque Wiltshire and Somerset visiting some of the places/people most associated with 50 years of Mini Marcos production.

We will start at the premises of Marcos Heritage Spares, Semington, near Trowbridge, Wiltshire from 10am and will finish at Haynes Motor Museum, Sparkford, Somerset.

This promises to be a very special weekend for those interested in Mini Marcos.

Please book the hotel room ASAP before they release the rooms to other guests.

Please let me know if you are interested in being part of this 50th Anniversary weekend.

I will certainly be there on the Saturday (assuming all is well, unlike last year!) but awaiting details of work etc. to see if I can make the Sunday as well.

I'm interested to hear how people who are unable to get to Castle Coombe are celebrating the 50th.
For me, I have entered my car in Motorclassica here in Melbourne.
If you visit http://www.motorclassica.com.au you will see that we are celebrating 50 years alongside the dino Ferrari amongst others.
Now all I have to do is finish the car....

I hope the Castle Combe event is a great success, and look forward to seeing lots of photos.

Rodger, congratulations on having your Marcos accepted for this year's Motorclassica. That's certainly a feather in your cap and a terrific, high-profile venue at which to celebrate the marque's 50th anniversary.
It should also provide you with plenty of incentive to finish off all those small jobs that seem take up in inordinate amount of time to complete.
We'll need to see photos, too.

Our celebrations will be going on until Classic Le Mans in July 2016 and will no doubt include Brooklands Mini day, London-Brighton Mini Run  and Stoneleigh Kit Car Show. It would be great if owners in other countries too far away to celebrate with us can get together to mark the event.

Thanks Steve.
Every day i have bits with me in the car from a tacho dial to a roll of headlining. I'm off to deliver the switch panels just now which were anodised yesterday. A mutual friend of ours Henry keep telling me im stupid  when i outline details to him which spurs me on.
I look forward to getting together with you when you sprint your Marcos in Geelong in December.
Lemans in 2016 is too early for me unfortunately but I hope to bring it in 2018 to celebrate my 50 th !

Rodger, sorry to hear that your plans for Le Mans next year have had to be put back, at least you'll now have time to get your car properly sorted before venturing abroad.
Yes, I've entered my Marcos in the Geelong Revival Sprints again this year. It's being held on the last weekend in November, with the historic categories running on the Sunday. It would be nice to catch up with you there.

Well done to all that organised this weekend. Sorry I left before the trip to Haynes, but it was an hour in the wrong direction and I needed to get back before it got dark!

Great weekend! A huge thank-you must go to the organisers, specifically Allan Brown and family, and Roger and Melanie. Obviously a great deal of work went into planning everything, printing route instructions, etc.

Also thanks to Castle Combe Circuit who did us proud with an excellent pitch and then letting us lead the parade, and to Rory at Marcos Heritage for our visit on Sunday. It was good to meet Gavin Newell with his Quasar motorcycle designed by his late father Malcolm.

And the icing on the cake was that Lyn Marsh was able to join us for the event, which really made it special.

A Finally thanks to everyone who brought their cars along to make the event a success. Only sorry that my Mini Marcos was in bits so I came in the Jem, but noone seemed to mind.

I'll have some photos on the web site shortly, but there are already lots on facebook.
