Hi,

a nice picture of the '66 Le Mans car
As the front end doesn't have as many holes drilled as the actual race car, it's likely that it shows the car's practice specification.

The first pratice pic, the wheel arches are much smaller, there are no lights on the doors and there isn't a sun strip on the windscreen.

The first of the brochure pics must be from the Sunday as the headlight covers are missing, presumably taken off to give better light during the night.

There seems to be no window frame on the door, interesting rear arches too.

That's normal with the Perspex racing windows.

I've never seen interior shots of the car. Still waiting from a guy from the US what the s/n of the car is. Can also buy some nice shots from Le Mans 1966, but costs me 25 euro each....

Yes they are cut back for better access. I think those factory arch extensions are aluminium and are rivetted on.

I've put the LM66 photos on the Sport Scene LM66 page and I'll probably pull them off uploads at some stage.

The thinking behind this certainly changed for the following year.

I could be wrong but the number 50 on the first pic looks to be at a slight angle and the one in the 2nd pich is straight. Seeing as one has a badge and the other doesn't, I reckon its could be a different bonnet

Don't know which race that is, but on the page you listed, just above the picture you posted is this one.

Spot the Mini Marcoses ?

Car No 53 is the Mini Marcos of Guy Edwards and Peter Anslow.

I suspect that the car that is 2 to the left of the white 911 in the center of the photo, is car No 56, the Mini Marcos of Mike Garton and Patrick McNally

If the photo had been taken slightly lower, we might have been able to see the FLIRT car of Jackie Bond-Smith and Joey Cook, who started the race 58th on the grid, the white car at the bottom of the photo is the Diva Gt that started in 55th

Hi,

Neil's picture was taken at Nürburgring '67 but I don't know if it was the 500 or 1000 km race.

Excellent research Tom. The first two pics of the 66 car are from before the race day, note there are no lights on the doors, The 67 car still has the unmodified windscreen.

Thanks, I like the one with the Marcos on the trailer.
Sadly the 1967 car has not been properly restored to its LM67 shape imho
