A bit more on the above.
I bought it several months ago in North Lancashire. its a shell with minimal running gear.
I am trying to identify it as the paperwork was missing. I have been working on it but not having much luck.
In the last few days I have lost my storage space. Wife says ;NO NO NO as soon as I mentioned it so it looks like another MM will be appearing bon ebay very soon.
thanks to anyone that can shed any light on the car.

Just out of idle curiosity, how much of the shell is there? Doors, hatch, glass? Is it a D+H shell or earlier? Tom |

Hi Tom,
Not sure if its a DH shell....how do you tell.
the shell has seen some work where i presume someone has been repairing cracks but a good afternoon with some decent fibreglass filler would make a world of diifference.
I also noticed it has panels on the inner rear wings which I have not seen before
( i do have more pics but am rubbish at getting them onto the forum...its a size thing)
The car does have a tailgate, doors and a bonnet (bit damaged) and I have collected a few window frames in my quest for decent fitting ones ( which I still can't find and will probably get some made).
The car also came with glass windows for doors and rear windows. Interestingly there are frames for the rear side windows.
My current plan is to find some time, get the shell up to scratch and perhaps give it a coat of etch primer.....It certainly boosted the price of the one on ebay few weeks back. I am also currently negotiating the purchase of a 1.3 Metro with only 3000 (yes - 3000) miles since new that i thought I might stick on ebay with the shell as a donor car.
Anyway I am blethering as usual.....hope my added description may jog your memory Tom or any others on the forum.
regards

My ignorance will appear shortly... I thought that I read somewhere that there was a different dash used in the two cars and the window frames on the earlier ones were alloy and the later ones weren't. Perhaps those in the know will correct me. The reason for my inquiry is that I'm on the hunt for another MM. They are thin on the ground here in the US. Tom |

Grant,
I've increased the maximum size of uploads to 0.15MB (153.6kB) but if you have any problem just email them to me. We can have a page for the car on the Gallery.
I'm not very familiar with Marcos ltd Mk.IVs but Tom is right. If it has polished alloy window frames it's probably Marcos Ltd; if it has window frames fabricated from aluminium channel and painted black, and in particular if it has aluminium trims on top of the doors then it's D&H. There may be some internal differences too. |

Hello Grant
Do you know the body number?
If it starts DH it's a D+H, but if it doesn't, it isn't !!
The door of the Mk IV's made by Marcos mostly had brass window frames - D+H changed to the (cheaper) black painted aluminium frames that others have mentioned.
cheers

Hi Roger,
There is no body number or registration number .
It came with alloy window frames which basically are not the best......I also have a set of the black ones so I know what you mean....would love a set of brass ones.....anybody got any spare ?
I think the car may have come from the Carnforth area, postcode LA6 but cannot be sure.
Tom, I hope this answered you question.
Richard is posting some more pics as I am computer useless.
thanks grant |

No, the battery box has clearly been put in. It may have come from an earlier car. On pre-mk.IV cars the battery box was on the right hand side. |
