Gary that sounds very good.
I have a suggestion. What about if i pay for a mould to be made (maybe from a fibreglass company local to you?), and for two dashboards to be made from it (one for you and one for me)? Would that pay for your troubles? I would then of course also pay for the freight to Denmark for the one dashboard, and maybe the mould? Or maybe we can arrange something with the club if other members needs it at some point?
Before we go ahead, i would like a rough price though, is that possible you think?
Also, iam affraid that you would need to take out the windshield, but i came out really easy on mine, if that is any help?
If others are interested, maybe we could chip in, and get some more made? |

Hello Dennis, that's fine by me. I will see if there are any fibre-glass people near to me and what the likley cost will be. I would have a go myself but haven't played with making moulds for a few, (at least 20), years now. Also work is against me at the moment.
I will struggle to get anything done next week as I will be away working at the London Marathon from Sunday 15th through to the 24th April.
Before I start looking around are there any helpers nearby to Berkshire that could willing to pop over, have a look and give a price for a mould?
For the record my Mk1 is 6079 and doesn't look like it is on the register details, probably as I can't recall letting the club know, sorry!

I am also interested in one dash for one mk IV.
I have experience on making moulds for fibreglass use. But Berkshire is also not on my back yard.
Cheers, Denis |

Denis, should i understand it as you would like a dash for a Mk1/3 to install in your Mk. 4?
That sounds good, but i think we first need to find out if it is possible to get a mould taken from Gary's car? |

Depending on price, I might also be interested in a dash for my car. I'll take a pic of what is currently in my car tomorrow.
Did all cars come with a dash, or was it an "extra" that one could order?

Sounds good mate. But first, i think that we need to wait and see what Gary comes up with. If we have to make some more, then i would require quite an logistic effort from his side. And that must be something that he decides if he wants to do. One thing i was thinking though, was that if i pay for a mould to be made, then if i possibly could get it sent here along with the dash, then i could make up some more.
It is really a shame that this mould not isn't available anymore. But as said, lets wait and see what happens. |

Hello lets see what be can be done, I will have a serious look round when I am back home on the 24th April, if a half decent mould can be made then that can be used to make a dashbords as and when they are needed. We need to make sure that everyone is happy with the finished product first.
I will be in contact soon.
Regards
Gary |

Hello Dennis,
Sorry for the lack of reply and update on the dashboards. I am currently struggling on getting someone who is willing to take moulds of the dashboard locally. The car is currently not running and isn't road legal, as it was only ever a race car, so would need to be trailered, the added problem is that I don't have a trailer and my car doesn't have a tow hitch!
I have a couple more numbers to try so will keep you informed of the progress or lack of it as the case maybe!
As a separate note does anyone have a spare headlamp cover for a Mk1 drivers side, right hand drive car? If not a pair for a Mk1? |

The headlamp covers sold by the club do not fit Mk.Is so any that exist are probably either factory ones or specially made. Good luck! |
