I am intending to put together an order for some early type (centre pod) Mini Marcos dashboards from Rae Davis. I expect to have a price shortly, but it might depend on how many we can make at one time. I know at least two people need them and I would like to hear from anyone else who is looking to get one. |

I haven't decided on a dash for my project, as that part's several months out (they start on my shell on March 12). However...do you have some more info about those dashes? I searched around, but couldn't find pictures or details.
When you say early style, is that the layout, or will that not fit the later ones (mk6 in my case). |

I am defenietly up for one. I think Gary Marlow is too.
I don't see why the dash shouldn't fit a mk 6?
This is what it looks like:

I'm interested, pending price, etc. It's extra cool if it can make it to the Marcos Heritage garage sometime in April or early May (exact finish date to be decided soon, they start building the chassis on March 12). If it can be shipped to me with the car, that will be FAR cheaper.

I think April/May is a bit optimistic but we'll see what can be done. The dash is like the one illustrated, minus the left hand instrument panel which I assume was put in afterwards. It should fit any Mini Marcos. |

Depending on price, I might also be interested.
When you say "early style" in which models/serial numbers was this kind of dashboard originally installed? |

The dashboard didn't change at the same time as the mark number. The 'early' type with the centre instrument pod was fitted to Mk.I cars and some Mk.II/III cars. The later type is flat on top and across the front except for the glove compartment on the left. I'm not aware that there was a l.h.d. version. |

I understand there is no exact cut-off date. However somebody might be willing to do an educated guess on what would be correct for my marcos?
It has serial number 7297 |

Well we don't record what type of dashboard each car has, but you can browse the Mini Marcos Gallery. It looks as though 7297 should have a flat dashboard. 7216 was owned by Rae Davis and has one of his dashboards which is clearly shown, but it appears that the changeover was fairly early on in the 7000 series i.e. they had a few Mk.I dashboards left over so they used them up.

Hi Richard,
dashboard looks really smart and i am definately keen.
Just a suggestion...............Over the last few years rollcages have cropped up on the forum on several occasions. The cage in the picture is simple but obviously effective and as the car belonged to rae there is a good chance it meets competition requirements.
if we are talking to rae about dashboards is it worth asking about a run of rollcages as well, sure it would be well received by club members ......as stated just a suggestion.
Grant. |

I am pretty sure, that roll cage is made by caged. I bought one from them through Rory at Marcos Heritage. It is fully MSA/FIA certified, and you can add harness bars and cross'es as you like. Mine has double Cross in the rear and a harness bar. I can take som pics of it, when i get around to unboxing it.

I had another go today but he wasn't answering. We could have an order for seven or eight dashboards so far (if the price is right). |

I've decided to withdraw my expression of interest in a new dashboard and willl have a go at reworking the home-made one that came with the car. I hope something can still be organised for the others who showed some interest in having a batch of new dashboards made.
