I'm back, and with an unregistered Marcos built MkIV..

The car is pretty much complete although it has been garaged for over 20 years.

Does anybody know the process for getting an age related registration with only the attached chassis plate as any proof of identity?

My car has the chassis 7081; Which is a cause of some concern to me as there is a car in the gallery purporting to be the same..

7081 would make it a MkIII

Don't forget

Quoted Text
The company was bought by Rob Walker's Corsley Garages (owned by the famous formula 1 privateer) and traded as Marcos Limited. The Mk. IV Mini Marcos was introduced by this company. The body was substantially updated, with a new floor pan based on the Mini Traveller and a rear hatch as standard. It was longer and taller than its predecessors, giving more interior space and a better driving position.

Quoted Text
Mark IV (1974-81) - longer and higher than predecessors; longer wheelbase; wider 'B' pillar; thicker rear end with bumper section under rear panel; no louvres; new floor pan based on Mini Traveller; rear hatch as standard. Body numbers 8000-8099 made by Marcos Limited, DH8100-8429 * made by D & H Fibreglass Techniques Limited, Oldham

Hmmm, so it may be appropriate to rename this thread...

Here is my car:

Which is shown in the club gallery here:

http://minimarcos.org/minimarcos/uyx763m/index.html

The trouble now is that the DVLA know UYX763M as a Gold Clubman.

Is it possible to notify the DVLA of a change of body type, or will they insist on an IVA?

You need to talk to Roger Garland. With luck you won't have to go down the IVA route but some evidence will help. You can cite the web page showing your car with the UYX registration. That was added in 2007 and is likely to be older than that.

Thanks Richard.  Will do!

That Lada(?) is 87-88 - not that it proves much, but they didn't tend to last long before they fell apart

Watching with interest as I have a jem on a mini log book that hasn't been on the road in at least 20 years.

Well 8071 (now correctly identified as such) is MOT'd and was driven the 85 miles home yesterday.  That is the first time since it was manufactured in 1974 that it has ever been legally driven on the road.  (I was on trade plates).

The application for an age related registration has gone in this morning, so fingers crossed
