After several years of searching I found and was able to buy a former racie Mini Marcos that was never raced. The car is a mk 2/3 from 67/68 and was standing in a garage after a tragic death of Mr Salomonsson who started a Mini Marcos factory up in the north of Sweden 1967. He managed to import and build 4 cars before he died in a sea accident.
This car was after some years bought by the former racing driver Johnny Lundberger, he was one of the two Targa Florio drivers 1967, and the car was built to beat the world record of the flying kilometer for 750 cc cars. The engine is a really special 970 Cooper S with smaller bore and a aluminium cylinder head. Sad or good for me the transporting vehicle broke and the E6 road in the south west of Sweden opened up for traffic and the car was stuffed away.
The car will get a 1493 cc Cooper S engine with Salisbury diff as soon as I have gone through all the brakes, bearings and clutch. I will also put in a new old style Cooper S wire loom. Nothing has been used so mostly changing some rubberseals and some derust and paintjob. The old BRG paint will be left. The car has a real roll cage and the original seats and wood dash.
