Hi all friends of Mini Marcos
I am trying to establish a complete history of UDE 489H, the 1991 Stoneleigh Kitcar Show car. We have some dark holes in the history so we look for information to fill out dark spots.
A few additional facts:
Prior to Stoneleigh Show car had suffered a heavy left front damage. Bottom of headlamp housing is slightly to high for headlamp ring, body repaired from almost centre front to seat fixing points. The damage woud match driving into a ditch. Or a racing accident?
The car had an exceptional high number of fixing holes (50+!) like seats, fire extinguisher etc.
The instrument panel looks as an original but has the lower part sawn off.
I will post further information and photos.

The one person who might be able to shed some more light is Stef Jones but I don't know if we have any current contact details for him. We were looking for an unused shell for the Stoneleigh build but couldn't find one. I believe Stef found the shell we used and returned it as far as practicable to unused state (if not condition). |

I think 7012 could easily have looked nice when it was acquired for Stoneleigh. Still only few holes in the outer skin but a lot of holes in the bottom. At a point I thought it was a test bed for a seat manufacturer! In the photo there is a nicely repaired very big hole in the passenger side and that's why I think 7012 must have been in a ditch or so. |

I think this photo also point in contact with a ditch or so! Filler, sanding and paint job was nicely done but fiberglass repair inside wing was mainly chicken wire. |

Last photo is showing fibreglass damage from the same from damage.
Let me know if anyone knows what happened to 7012 and when!
Is it only possible to post one photo in one post?

For more pictures it is wise to use photobucket or similar. You can upload the photo in your private album and then put a picture link in your message. This way you can display more than one picture.
Nice to see the history of the car! |

Thank you Joost
I do not use photobucket or similar so I will continue with an updated table covering 7012 history. The car had 6 registered owners over the years 1970 to 2011. I understand the intention was to get a fresh unused shell for the Stoneleigh 1991 restoration but it was not possible so the MMOC club found an used Mini Marcos with a reasonable shell. Everything was removed and the bare shell was restored to the level factory shells was delivered in. I don't know if the shell was light blue or it was painted light blue in this process. Originally 7012 was green gelcoat and there's only filler and sanding under the light blue paint. |

The shell was painted light blue for the rebuild. In fact the paint was a mixture of white and the somewhat darker Tahiti Blue that was used on my Mini Jem before I had it. It was a case of using up the leftovers! |

Thank you!
Left overs and left overs, I think the colour works on a Mini Marcos! Good story.
I will update my table.
