We have recieved an invite from the AC owners club, via Mike Smith to compete in their sprint at Goodwood on October 22nd. Cost is about £75, you will need approved race overalls and Helmet and a National B speed license it you wish to take part.
It would be good if we can get a grid of 5 cars
There will be 25 - 30 AC's (Proper Cobra's, Aces, ME3000) and about the same number of classis / vintage cars of other makes.
Should be a great day.
Please contact me if you are interested or need further details.

I am changing the gear ratio this weekend so that I can do Goodwood again without being flat out this time. So yes I would definatly be interested. I am doing Gurston on the 10th and 11th of September Longleat on the 24th and 25th of September and Eelmoor on the 2nd of October so Goodwood would be a good finish to the year. Are you doing any of the above Pete?

Allan,
Sorry not doing any of those, wanted to do Longleat but will be travelling to the USA that day so can't do!
Will be doing Castle Combe sprint on 15th Oct, regs are just out.
What gearing will you be running.
I last did goodwood in 1994? on a 3.44 on 13" wheels Will brobably be on a 3.9 with 0.96 drops (gives me a top speed of about 130ish)

Pete,
Last year I did it with a 4.3 and 1:1 drops on 13" wheels. I even changed to my wet tyres as the diameter is bigger and I was in fourth all the way round even through the chicane. I have just changed the crownwheel and pinion to 3.76 It will probably mean that I don't use fourth at Gurston but should be a lot better for Goodwood.

I will be at Goodwood on the 22nd of October. I am number 31. Have you got confirmation of entry Pete? Everyone is welcome to come and watch, it should be a good day. Practice starts at 9.30 and timed runs start at 13.30 |

Yep will be there I'm No 30.
Won the class at Combe by just over 3 seconds from Vince Stone in the Green Miglia. My car was a right handfull with mid corner oversteer.
Steff Jones was there, not driving but it was good to see him.
Need to sort my car before goodwood, wont be fun or fast at goodwood with the amount of oversteer it had!

All,
A very quick note to say that Allan and myself had a great time on Saturday, there 12 Cobras, 13 Ace's E Type Jag, C Type Jag, Bently Mulsan Turbo!, Lagonda's Rileys, Alvis, Fraser Nash and two little mini marcos present!
There were 68 cars in all and we were in a class with a Marerati BiTurbo, Lotus Elan, and 2 Mk1 Escorts fitted with tuned 2litre Pintos!
I managed 2nd in class 0.4s behind one of the Escorts and was 5th fastest overall! Allan was 3rd in class.
We had a great time, very very frendly event with some simply stunning cars.
Will do a better write up for the mag with some photos.
Next years event will be 4th November.

All,
Just recieved the final results from the AC owners club and would like to correct the statement above. 1st with 98.7 Cobra Mk 2 (11COB)) 2nd with 100.07 Cobra Mk2 (13COB) 3rd with 101.66 Cobra Mk4 4th with 101.70 Mk1 Escort 5th with 102.1 Granny Smith!
The very modified Bently Mulsan Turbo R did a best time of 104.36.
Allan's best of 112.19 was a new record at Goodwood for him.
Hero of the day was however J. Cobb in a 1930's Fraser Nash who did a very sideways 108.91!

Pete, Thanks for saying I came 3rd but I actually came 5th in our class. Unfortunatly I haven't got the speed or the bravery that Pete has. On the two lap practice we had pete managed to catch me up by 1 1/4 laps and I had a 10 second head start. Pete modified my front suspension after that and made my car handle a lot better (Thanks) but he was still too quick for me. I averaged 77 mph over the one lap from a standing start and Pete was about 85mph. We got a lot of interest in our little cars, it would have been better with a few more MM's. Maybe next year.

Nope. Just got back from Lugano which is in Ticino - Italian speaking part of Switzerland. Nothing to do with cars. Loads of Mercs and Smarts around, plus new Minis. I didn't see any Marcoses. |

Yes I am in number 59 which is lucky because I already have that number on my car from the last race I did.
I think Guy is in too.
The weather is looking good for Saturday sunny but only 11 deg's might need thermals if you are watching.

Well done everybody - and I hope you all have a great day. I would have liked to be there, but was tempted away by the chance of a long weekend on the Cote d'Azur. Guy, how about a write-up for the club magazine? Photo's too if possible (Richard?) Roger Club Secretary |

It took me half an hour to get the car started this morning with the help of a spare battery, jump leads, charger, hot air gun and WD40. I arrived at about 10:30 just as the lads were queuing up to go out for their practice. It was an excellent day, though I gather Guy had a spot of bother and couldn't make it. I was drooling over all te superb machinery in the paddock, including loads of AC Aces, Acecas, Cobras and several other models, plus Jags, Bentleys, Frazer-Nashs, BMWs and a sprinkling of single seaters. In the Mini Marcos class Ollie Howell came first in Granny Smith, with Pete second and Allan third, followed by Rory and then Mike White in the road-going Mk.VI. I hope to have some pics in the Sport Scene section shortly. |

Richard,
Thanks for coming down and taking photos.
Ollie was fastest non single seater (he did beat 2 of them!) with a time of 97.9s, I was 4th fastest non-single seater with 100.1s. Ollies time was faster from a standing start than Rae Davis managed on a flying lap in 2004!
In practice we both did a standing start lap followed by a flying lap, Ollies flying lap was 92.2s and mine was 96.4s (an average of 93 and 90mph!)
Allan did a 110s, Rory a 112s and Rory's mate a 125s (i think), will update these when the official results come out.
Allan's time was 2s faster than last year, despite some fuel feed problems.
We had a great time beat all the Cobras, E types, Bentley's even a very nice '73 911 2.7RS!.
Will try to put pen to paper for the club mag in the coming weeks.

The AC owners club have invited the Mini Marcos Owners Club to their annual sprint at Goodwood again this year. It is on Saturday the 7th of November. Cost is £105 I was there on my own last year, it would be nice to have a few more there this year. If anyone is interested please let me know.
