I convinced myself that the money I'm earning writing for the magazine was really 'spare' money and not needed for essentials so I could spend it on a toy. I'm buying myself this.

It's a 1989 Moto Guzzi California III 1000cc Fully Faired.
Wish me luck. I've owned Guzzis before. |

I'd kill myself in a week! I can't reach the bars on a sports bike. Too much stomach and tank interference,
The Cali is to replace our R850RT which we use to tour Europe in the summer. We tend to cover around 4000 miles over 3 weeks so a sports bike is not so useful. Last year we covered the Mille Miglia course and took in the Guzzi museum on Lake Como.

I had someone pull out of a petrol station and very nearly kill me (two months in hospital!) and now the wife wont let me ride them. Never mind, I get my thrills blatting around in the Marcos now ! |

New toy for me too! I have just agreed to purchase an old Lotus Elite (the hunch back wedge!) for the sum of £250! The wife was not amused, as it is rather down at heel, and has been standing for at least 15 years. This should keep me busy for the next year or so! |

Hi Phil, Yes and no, it was originally silver but now looks very grey, and it is a local car from near Southampton. Have you just sold one? This will be my third one, a very under rated sports car that you can fit the whole family in. |

No, a guy I work with just sold a rough one - for £250. I looked at it myself but it needed far too many parts and work to be worth doing. |

Hi Peter, I will take a few pics when I pick it up in about a weeks time. It looks very sad but not in the same league as LUR was! |

That's a lot of car for 250 quid. At least the missus will know where you are for the next five years... |

Hey Paul,
Are you still working on the Lotus Elite?
Last week I bought one model 504, year 1978 and LHD. Nice condition only the electric systeem is dead.
Cheers, Denis |
