They can, but with difficulty - easier in parts! -RP

Time: 2003-10-28 23:01:20 Name: Dave Jenkins (South Wales)
Comments: Anyone know where KKG 919E is? I sold it on in about 1975. Non opening rear. Yellow when sold. Just a thought. Dave.

Comments: hi, I am really intersted in getting a Mini Marcos Mk. V i think, but my problem is were can I get one? How much do they cost built and how much for the kit?

Reply sent. Best thing is to join the club but keep an eye on Mini and kit car mags. Expect to pay £2k to £4k for a Mk. V in good condition. The kits are no longer manufactured but replacement shells may be obtainable from Marcos Heritage Spares. -RP

Time: 2003-09-22 20:39:47 Name: Pete Drewett (Wimborne, Dorset)
Comments: Looking for a project, I purchaced Oct 03 Which Kit?. It happened to feature the MMOC. Back to Apr 27 1968 and a trip to Bradford-on-Avon to pick up Mini Marcos Mk3 body shell No 7204 in stage 2 form. Finished & Engineer' report 10th July 1968. Reg KFC 407 F. Any info please? 32 year gap.

Nothing between 7202 and 7208 I'm afraid, but you never know - it might still be around. -RP

Time: 2003-09-16 05:39:26 Name: Mike Payne (Vancouver, BC, Canada)
Web site: Vancouver Mini Club
Comments: Love the site, but could use a for-sale page. I've only ever seen one for sale in North America here, and was unable to snatch it as I already had a project at the time. I've always wanted something like it so I can thumb my nose somewhat more to those US V8 guys :D

Unfortunately we weren't able to keep the "for Sale" page open, but I hope you find a suitable car. Anyone on the West Coast got a Mini Marcos for sale?

Time: 2003-07-16 13:56:54 Name: Scrog (Boston, Lincs)
Comments: on the 16th I saw what I think was a well modified Marcos, Kingfisher or Jem with very wide arches, smoothed off bonnet and fin on rear in bright white. It was in a village called Coningsby near Boston. Anyone know of the like here or any place?

We think it might be a Mk.IV Mini Marcos belonging to Norman Clarke of Coningsby. -RP

Time: 2003-06-26 10:22:34 Name: Scrog (Boston, Lincs)
Comments: Well yet another meet missed belive me I am trying to get the Kingfisher on the road and to some meets. Not long now I am sure of that - will try for the next one.

where is the nearest club/pub meet around the Lincolnshire area?

We don't have a group for Eastern England, but if any owners would like to get a pub meet going please contact Scrog. -RP

Time: 2003-06-12 13:42:22 Name: Robert Wood (Bremen, Germany)
Comments: Nice site! I am very interested in getting a copy of the Mini Marcos Kit Manual. Is there one around? Also, is it possible to buy a Mini Marcos Kit still to-day?

a. see How to Build a Mini Marcos; b. there may still be some unstarted kits around, or Marcos Heritage Spares may be able to make you a new shell. -RP

Comments: I was thrilled that the NIMROD was mentioned on this fab site! ...and even more thrilled when you posted the photo! A lot of British kitcar innovation of the late 60s early 70s has blown away in a powder of glass dust leaving only fuzzy memories! RAY JAY gave life to my Ninmrod design...and now, thanks to you...the whole World can see this cute little...cartooncar! It's a shame it's come 30 years too ****ing late!! ...Oh well, "Life's Just a Bowl of Toenails"!

Wow! we have a fan :-) It's nice to be able to keep memories of so many interesting Mini variants and derivatives alive, but I've still got quite a few to track down! -RP

Time: 2003-04-17 10:48:24 Name: Mark Frampton (Kenmare Kerry, IRL)
Comments: I have just bought an Irish built Marcos and I am currently restoring her. I will be joining the Owners Club asap. I have always admired these wonderful little cars and can't wait to drive my own.

Time: 2003-04-14 17:17:56 Name: David Evans (Reading)
Comments: Hi All, Just thought you should update the members photos bit as we don't own Q262 YUJ any more, we sold it to Andy Roberts from Surrey in September, hopefully he's getting more use out of the car than we were, miss the car a bit, but not the money and time it was taking up.

The members' cars pages are now updated. -RP

Time: 2003-04-07 17:19:55 Name: Daz Newall (Oxfordshire)
Comments: Hello, I used to own a Black and Gold Mini Marcos (Reg OHT 388M) and was a club member, attending amongst other things, the big mini bash at Silverstone (Mini 30th?) I was contacted a while back by a chap who had bought it and was planning to restore it. Would love any info just to see how she's doing !

Haven't seen that one for a while, but I've just been looking through some slides of Mini 30. -RP

Time: 2003-04-06 23:08:06 Name: Ray Hails (Newcastle upon Tyne)
Comments: good site, new Marcos owner looking for info.

Time: 2003-04-06 13:04:44 Name: Mark Apsey (Devon)
Comments: cool site with great info, nearly good enough to prompt me into buying a Mini Marcos, had a bad time many years ago with 69 Cox GTM, left me mentally scared about kit cars. Still top site, and the only place I've been able to find reference to Vortz Racing/Cooper Car Company (1984) ltd Minis, well done.

I don't think kit cars are inherently scary, or I wouldn't have had one for 23 years and acquired others along the way. However kit car builders vary in aptitude. The Mini Marcos is difficult to go wrong with but it can be done. Caveat emptor! -RP

Time: 2003-03-24 13:51:19 Name: Fujio Wako (Japan)
Comments: I always look at this HP [Home Page]. But a Japanese member does not increase and feels it disappointing. By the way, HP of Japanese Mini Marcos Owners Club gets impossible to access. Information is not on with a manager of HP and does not understand the reason.

I've updated your link. I hope they sort out the problems. -RP

Time: 2003-03-15 02:45:39 Name: Keith Richard Radford Jr.
Web site: Radtoys

Comments: I loved your site! I feel that the diecasts are great. Thank you for sharing.

Time: 2003-02-25 17:31:00 Name: Simon Robinson (Northampton)
Comments: Looking towards buying a MM (think it's a Mk.1 or 2 - sticky out filler cap), currently in the back yard of Mini Bitz in Northampton. Anyone know of anyway of making it a four seater without ripping the shell to pieces? Is it legal to have back-to-back seats?

Yes - find an alternative car and don't butcher a Mk. I/II Mini Marcos! There are plenty of four-seater Mini derivatives, some pictured on this site. -RP

Time: 2003-02-15 00:25:57 Name: Nick (Hertfordshire)
Comments: I used to own Mini Marcos JPB 123K, built in Surrey. Do any of your members know where she now lives if in fact she still lives at all?

It's not on my database but someone might recognise the number. -RP

Time: 2003-02-13 16:15:43 Name: Colin Jenkins (London)
Comments: Great Site guys, just like to say thanks for helping me to sell my Mini Marcos. It is going to a good home with an enthusiastic owner in Austria. I am taking the liberty of setting up and paying for his first year's membership so hopefully he will continue it in the future. All the best.

Time: 2003-02-08 20:37:15 Name: Scrog (Boston, Lincs)
Comments: Hi chaps still here. Still working on the Kingfisher still not sure how my wife kept the xmas presents secret. Have found a 1380cc lump for the bird it's all cambed up, S timing gear, big valve head, but also got a turbo unit. Question to any one how might know: What mods would I have to do to engine to run the turbo without blowing it kingdom come? Ideas please?

Time: 2003-02-07 00:34:32 Name: Tom (Kidderminster)
Comments: Hello. I've just brought a Mk.V (I think) Marcos. It's bright red/orange, no MoT or tax yet but it doesn't need a lot doing to it. I've just found the site and it's really good. If I get any problems that I'm not sure of I will get in touch. Tom.

Good luck with the car. I hope you join the club, then you'll get all the support you need! -RP

Time: 2003-01-29 12:25:36 Name: Andy Mac (Derbyshire)
Comments: I love your web site with all the Mini based kit cars, but you have overlooked the car that I am the proud owner of, a GTM Rossa, the best wind in the hair motoring fun you can have with an A series engine!

The Rossa is in the Mini Mega-list but not yet in Mini Alternatives. I'll rectify that as soon as I have a suitable photo. -RP

Post script - the Rossa is now included. -RP (2003-03-01)

Time: 2003-01-28 09:28:00 Name: Tony Ball (High Wycombe)
Comments: Loved the piccie of the Minus saloon & estate on the link. (Can you still get them?)

I don't think they're being made any more, but I did see a Minus shell for sale last year. -RP
