| Unfortunately it had rotted out. I spent a long time searching for another but all the ones I found were much longer, so I filled the hole back in. In the early marketing brochures the car did not have a sunroof, so I assumed it was added by a new owner at a later date. Then I saw a photo of the Mini Marcos stand at the 1968 Earls Court motor show which clearly showed the car with the sunroof, so it it must have been a later factory addition. If I ever find another, I may return it. |

By 'rotted out' did you mean the fabric or the metal work? The width is the important thing, a long sun roof can be shortened but not if too wide I don't think.

Listed as John Frost's and appeared in the MOC magazine in Spring 1988.
interstingly enough when I had just bought my car and was dropping my mum at Manchester airport in it around 1994 or 1995 a guy came up to me in the car park - dressed in business suit - and said "I like your Marcos, I had one a few years ago" and I'm sure he said the plate was 370 JEA and it was or had been white. I can't recall if he said he was the one who built it or if he'd rebuilt it. |

Yes these pictures are of interest as I had not seen him in green, just red or white. Many thanks for sharing. Do you have the photos in a jpeg? I like to collect all the history I can get hold of.
So I have the old style log book which only dates back to 1978, but from then until 1990 it was owned by John and then afterwards Paul Frieda until 1996 when I took charge (it was white). So if the car was green in 1988, then anyone approaching you 94/95 saying they used to own it when it was white, must have been John and he must have painted it that colour. |

Glad they are unseen by you and can add to the cars history. The pics are in an old Marcos Owners Club magazine. I’ve been flicking through my old collection and noted 370 JEA and knew something had been on the forum about the car and of course the reg stuck in my head from years ago.
I can scan the magazine and send to you but that would be a PDF. Drop me an address to send them to and I’ll fix it up at weekend.

Have been following the rebuild of JEA and it looks great so far - colour looks good too!
Who did the paint work as it looks a tidy job, did you do all the prep for this or was this done by the painters?
The 'old photos' when it was green are a nice addition to the history of the car as well.
What did the car originally run with? I am guessing a 1275 engine and box?

I keep stumbling acrosss 370 JEA!!!.......There might be another owner of the car? as around end of Nov 94 or early 95 it is advertised in the club mag for sale.....
Somebody had been taking care of it back then.

Yes it was 96 when I first got hold of the car, though I think it was yet another ad that I replied to. I'll have to dig out my old mags to see if I still have it.

Mike Brown did a lot of the prep while he was repairing the fibreglass. The paint was done by a local semi-retired chap who was recommended to me.
What did the car originally run with? I am guessing a 1275 engine and box?
The car came to me with a 1300GT engine, but there's also evidence of another hole for the gearshift closer to the bulkhead which would suggest a magic wand set up. So chances are it was originally built with a smaller engine. |

| Wow that's an amazing picture! To have the FLIRT girls pictured with the car is a great find. The website its on seems to want £159 for it and I'm guessing the original photographer isn't around anymore with a negative to develop an image from. Well Christmas is coming... |
